ESTABLISHED HOUSE PRICES
Quarterly Changes
- Preliminary estimates show the price index for established houses in Australia increased 2.2% in the September quarter 2006, compared with the movement of 3.5% in the June quarter 2006.
- House prices rose in all cities: Perth (+10.1%), Canberra (+3.8%), Darwin (+3.1%), Melbourne (+1.7%), Hobart (+1.5%), Brisbane (+0.9%), Adelaide (+0.6%) and Sydney (+0.2%).
Annual Changes (September quarter 2005 to September quarter 2006)
- Over the twelve months to September quarter 2006, preliminary estimates show that established house prices rose 9.5%.
- Annually, house prices rose in all cities: Perth (+45.9%), Darwin (+17.3%), Canberra (+10.5%), Hobart (+9.4%), Melbourne (+7.5%), Brisbane (+6.5%), Adelaide (+6.4%) and Sydney (+1.4%).
